Stephen Andrew Perkins (born September 13, 1967) is a musician and composer from the United States. He now performs with Jane’s Addiction and Hellflower as a drummer and percussionist. Perkins continued to perform with vocalist Perry Farrell in the rock band Porno for Pyros after Jane’s Addiction disbanded. He also has a solo project called Banyan and was a member of Lil’ Pit with Mike Watt in the 1990s. He played percussion on Rage Against the Machine’s “Know Your Enemy” in 1992, and he provided percussion to the Red Hot Chili Peppers’ song “One Big Mob” on their album One Hot Minute in 1995 (fellow Jane’s Addiction member Dave Navarro was the Chili Peppers’ guitarist at the time).
Perkins also played drums on the tune “I Do Not Want This” from Nine Inch Nails’ album The Downward Spiral. From 2004 to 2007, Perkins collaborated on a band called The Panic Channel with Jane’s Addiction guitarist Dave Navarro, Jane’s Addiction bass player Chris Chaney, and singer/guitarist Steve Isaacs. Perkins was also a part of Suicidal Tendencies’ Infectious Grooves side project, as well as Hellride, a Stooges cover band located in Los Angeles. Jane’s Addiction reformed in April 2008 for a performance at the NME Awards, and have subsequently performed a few club gigs.
